FONODAN and CONFORDAN Acoustic Bands

This EPD is of multiple products, based on a representative product. The EPD covers the following six products: FONODAN 50 (0.138 kg/m), FONODAN 70 (0.198 kg/m), FONODAN 130 (0.396 kg/m), FONODAN BJ (1.410 kg/m), CONFORDAN 900 (2.116 kg/m) and CONFORDAN 900 HS (2.116 kg/m).

According to PCR 2019:14 Construction products version 2.0.1, used for the preparation of this EPD, the representative product of multiple products has been considered. For the representative product, the selection has been done according to the product with the highest sales volume in the market. The declared results are based on the acoustic band FONODAN BJ, which has a width of 47 cm and a thickness of 3.9 mm. The products covered in this EPD have a width ranging from 4.6 cm (FONODAN 50) to 92 cm (CONFORDAN 900 HS). All the products have the same thickness (3.9 mm).

The products are acoustic bands intended to improve acoustic performance in construction applications.

Depending on the commercial reference, they are used for acoustic insulation of rigid elements and laminated gypsum board/profile joints (FONODAN 50), pipes and siphonic pipes (FONODAN 70), acoustic insulation of drainpipe elbows and other fittings (FONODAN 130), acoustic insulation of downspouts, including metal and PVC downspouts (FONODAN BJ), impact sound insulation and acoustic insulation of rigid elements (CONFORDAN 900), and impact sound insulation and acoustic insulation of rigid elements with a heat-sealed geotextile finish (CONFORDAN 900 HS).

The products are mainly dual-layer or two-layer acoustic tapes, bands or membranes composed of a high-density self-adhesive bitumen membrane and chemically cross-linked polyethylene thermally bonded to the membrane. CONFORDAN 900 HS differs from the other products because it is a multilayer membrane finished with a heat-sealed geotextile.

The products are supplied in rolls 10 m long, with a nominal thickness of 3.9 mm. The roll widths are 0.046 m for FONODAN 50, 0.066 m for FONODAN 70, 0.132 m for FONODAN 130, 0.47 m for FONODAN BJ, and 0.92 m for both CONFORDAN 900 and CONFORDAN 900 HS.

They can be installed in the following applications:

• FONODAN 50: as a resilient acoustic band between laminated gypsum boards and metal profiles, reducing the transmission of vibrations through rigid joints and limiting resonance in the profiles.

• FONODAN 70: around pipes and siphonic pipe systems, adding acoustic mass and reducing resonance generated by the passage of fluids.

• FONODAN 130: around drainpipe elbows, junctions and other fittings, where higher noise levels may occur due to changes in flow direction.

• FONODAN BJ: around metal or PVC downpipes and other wastewater pipe systems, adding acoustic mass to the pipe wall and reducing resonance.

• CONFORDAN 900: for impact sound insulation in floor systems and for the acoustic insulation of rigid construction elements and plasterboard systems. In mass-spring-mass systems, it acts as a resilient layer and contributes to reducing resonant frequencies.

• CONFORDAN 900 HS: for impact sound insulation in renovation and floating floor systems, particularly where ceramic tiles are directly bonded to the geotextile-finished surface, as well as for the acoustic insulation of rigid construction elements.
