SONODAN, ACUSTIDAN and DANOFON multilayer acoustic membranes

This EPD is of multiple products, based on a representative product. The EPD covers the following five products: SONODAN PLUS AUTOADHESIVE (9.0 kg/m²), ACUSTIDAN 16/2 (4.1 kg/m²), ACUSTIDAN 16/4 (7.3 kg/m²), ACUSTIDAN PRO 12/3 (5.5 kg/m²) and DANOFON (7.7 kg/m²).

According to PCR 2019:14 Construction products version 2.0.1, used for the preparation of this EPD, the representative product of multiple products has been considered. For the representative product, the selection has been done according to the product with the highest production volume in the reference year (2025). The declared results are based on the multilayer acoustic insulation product ACUSTIDAN 16/4, which has a width of 100 cm and a thickness of 20 mm. The products covered in this EPD have a nominal mass ranging from 4.1 kg/m² (ACUSTIDAN 16/2) to 9.0 kg/m² (SONODAN PLUS AUTOADHESIVE), and a nominal thickness ranging from 15 mm (ACUSTIDAN PRO 12/3) to 40 mm (SONODAN PLUS AUTOADHESIVE). The product ACUSTIDAN PRO 12/3 has been included in this new version of the EPD.

The products are multilayer acoustic insulation products intended to improve acoustic performance in construction applications. Depending on the commercial reference, they are used for airborne sound insulation, low-frequency acoustic insulation, impact noise insulation, insulation of partition walls, wall linings, suspended ceilings, downpipes, machine rooms and other building acoustic applications.

The products are mainly multilayer acoustic membranes, panels or boards composed of a high-density bituminous or elastomeric acoustic membrane combined with different finishing or porous layers depending on the product reference. These layers may include polyethylene finishing film, polypropylene finishing film, polyester/aluminium finishing layer, glass-fibre veil reinforcement, TACA

finishing layer composed of cotton and resin, rock wool finishing layer, solvent-based adhesive or foamed LDPE finishing layer.

These products are supplied in roll or panel format. SONODAN PLUS AUTOADHESIVE is supplied in panels 1.20 m long and 1.00 m wide, with a nominal thickness of 40 mm. ACUSTIDAN 16/2,

ACUSTIDAN 16/4, ACUSTIDAN PRO 12/3 and DANOFON are supplied in rolls 6.00 m long and 1.00 m wide, with nominal thicknesses of 18 mm, 20 mm, 15 mm and 28 mm, respectively.

They can be installed in the following applications:

• SONODAN PLUS AUTOADHESIVE: for high-performance airborne sound insulation, lowfrequency acoustic insulation and acoustic insulation of music venues, noisy premises, machine rooms and other building applications requiring improved acoustic performance.

• ACUSTIDAN 16/2: for acoustic insulation of cavity walls, partition walls, downpipes, wall linings and floating or suspended ceilings.

• ACUSTIDAN 16/4: for acoustic insulation of cavity walls, partition walls, downpipes, wall linings

and floating or suspended ceilings, where higher acoustic mass than ACUSTIDAN 16/2 is required.

• ACUSTIDAN PRO 12/3: for high-performance acoustic insulation applications where improved fire performance is required, including partition walls, wall linings, downpipes and suspended ceiling applications.

• DANOFON: for party wall thermal and acoustic insulation, acoustic insulation at low, medium and high frequencies, and impact noise insulation applications.

The products have several technical characteristics relevant for their intended acoustic applications:

• They provide acoustic mass to the construction element or pipe where they are installed.

• They work as membrane resonators, contributing to sound insulation at low frequencies.

• They combine high-density bituminous or elastomeric membranes with porous absorbent layers, such as recycled textile fibres, cotton-based layers, mineral wool or cross-linked polyethylene, depending on the product reference.

• The porous layers contribute to attenuation at medium and high frequencies.

• They have low thickness in relation to their acoustic performance.

• They are flexible and can provide continuity of acoustic insulation in difficult junctions, such as corners, pillars and pipe penetrations.

• Depending on the product reference and installation system, they can be mechanically fixed, adhesively bonded or supplied with self-adhesive layers.

• They are supplied in roll or panel format and can be cut and adapted to the geometry of the application.
