Aluminium Wire Rod - Series 1000

The 1000 series aluminium wire rod is declared as a single product and is manufactured at the TRIMET Saint-Jean-de-Maurienne site. It is primarily intended for the manufacture of electrical conductors and cables, including applications for electrical transmission and distribution. 

The product may be supplied with minor variations in chemical composition, diameter and resulting mechanical and electrical properties to meet specific customer requirements. All variants are manufactured using the same production route, equipment, energy supply and manufacturing processes. 

The wire rod is available in diameters of 7.5, 9.5, 12.2, 15.2 and 19 mm. Variations in diameter and technical specifications do not materially affect the life-cycle inventory per declared unit of 1 tonne. 

The chemical composition was also assessed to confirm the representativeness of the LCA model. Composition variations within the 1000 series are below 1% by mass and have a negligible influence on environmental performance. The LCA model is therefore considered representative of the declared 1000 series wire rod, for which a single set of environmental results is reported.
